Torrentgame – Okay, Marvel fans, get hyped—Amy Hennig, the legendary mind behind Uncharted, is bringing us Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. This game looks like it’s about to take storytelling and gameplay to a whole new level. We’ve got Captain America teaming up with Black Panther—specifically Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather—in a World War II epic that’s way more than just fighting Nazis.
From Occupied Paris to Wakanda (and Beyond!)
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hennig dropped some major details about the game’s settings. Yes, we’re starting in Nazi-occupied Paris, but that’s just the beginning. The story will also dive into the mysterious, hidden world of Wakanda.
Wakanda and Occupied Paris are both key locations, Hennig shared. We wanted to tell a globe-trotting story… There are yet-to-be-revealed locations in between.
She went on to explain how Wakanda, hidden behind its impenetrable jungle, gets pulled into the conflict despite being non-interventionist. The world is getting smaller, Hennig teased, but how long can you stay in the shadows? Sounds like Wakanda’s secrets might not stay hidden for long.
New Allies and Mysterious Super Soldiers
One of the game’s new characters is Julie, a member of the French Resistance voiced by Lyne Renée. She’s just one of the fresh faces joining the fight against Hydra. Oh, and there’s another super soldier in Paris. Hennig didn’t spill the tea on who they are (classic Marvel mystery vibes), but I’m already speculating.
The game features four playable characters, each bringing their own flavor to the story:
- Captain America (Steve Rogers) – voiced by Drew Moerlein
- Black Panther (Azzuri) – voiced by Khary Payton
- Gabriel Jones – played by Marque Richardson
- Nanali – portrayed by Megalyn Echikunwoke
And let’s not forget Howard Stark (yep, Tony’s dad), voiced by Joel Johnstone, who’s making sure Cap and the crew have the tech they need to take down Hydra.
A MacGuffin Worth Fighting For
When it comes to the plot, Hennig is keeping things under wraps. She did hint at an unfolding mystery and a classic MacGuffin—a key object driving the story forward. There is this impending threat and a shared object of desire, she said. Honestly, my guess? Something tied to Vibranium or maybe even the early iterations of the super-soldier serum.
Coming in 2025
We’ve got a bit of a wait—Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is set to launch in 2025, but no specific release date has been announced yet. With Hennig’s knack for gripping narratives and the mix of iconic Marvel characters, this one is shaping up to be a game-changer.
Personally, I’m all in for a Marvel story that’s not afraid to explore darker historical settings while still keeping that globe-trotting, action-packed vibe. What are your thoughts? Are you more excited about playing as Cap or Azzuri? Let’s talk theories!
