Torrentgame – The highly anticipated early-access launch of Path of Exile 2 has been a major success, but it has also brought some unforeseen challenges. Developer Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that the overwhelming influx of players has put a strain on their support systems, resulting in significant delays in processing player requests.
Since its release on December 6, Path of Exile 2 has been a huge hit, with the game selling over 1 million early-access keys across PC and consoles. The game quickly peaked at over 570,000 concurrent players on Steam, maintaining a position as one of the top-played and top-selling games on the platform.
However, the huge player base has overwhelmed Grinding Gear Games’ support team. The studio reported that they are now dealing with an “enormous” number of support tickets that are taking longer to process than usual. While the developer’s support team would typically respond quickly, often within the same day or even the same hour, the sheer volume of requests has made it difficult for them to keep up.
Technical Challenges Impacting Support
To make matters worse, technical issues have further exacerbated the situation. The studio revealed that its support system has been overloaded, causing emails to not be processed correctly, adding to the delays.
The good news is that Grinding Gear Games is actively working to resolve the issue. They are hiring more staff to bolster their support team and have also improved their support systems to handle more tickets. The developer has asked players who are waiting for responses not to send follow-up requests, as doing so could create more delays.
“Please be assured if you’re waiting for a response from our Support team, they’ll get back to you as soon as humanly possible,” Grinding Gear Games reassured players.
Changes and Improvements in Path of Exile 2
In addition to addressing the support issues, Grinding Gear Games is already making adjustments to Path of Exile 2 itself to improve the player experience. The developer is implementing changes that make the game a little less punishing while still maintaining its challenge. For example, the game’s dodge-roll system has been tweaked to reduce the chances of players being body-blocked by monsters. Furthermore, players can now teleport between saved checkpoints on maps, reducing the need for excessive backtracking after death.
Additionally, the game’s item drop rates have been increased, meaning that rewards from magic, rare, and boss enemies will be more generous.
