Torrentgame – In the latest investor call for Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two, Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be released in the fall of 2025. However, new reports indicate that competing game publishers are waiting to see whether Rockstar will delay GTA 6 until 2026 before finalizing their own release dates.
According to Bloomberg, game publishers with titles slated for fall 2025 “will wait as long as possible to set their release dates” as most of them don’t want to launch their games around the same time as GTA 6. However, Ubisoft has previously stated that they are not afraid to release games close to GTA titles, and that major launches like Grand Theft Auto 6 are actually good for the gaming industry.
Rockstar does have a history of delays for its AAA titles since 2007. Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2 all experienced delays from their originally scheduled release windows.
Bloomberg’s report notes that GTA 6 “has already missed several deadlines” before Rockstar confirmed they are now on track for a 2025 release. This doesn’t mean GTA 6 will definitely miss its release window, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it does. The report also mentioned that “Rockstar has asked their writers to be more mindful of transgender and other minority groups.”
Earlier this year, Take-Two expressed confidence that the release timing of Grand Theft Auto 6 wouldn’t matter much. GTA 5 remains one of the best-selling games of all time, with over 205 million copies sold since its 2013 launch. Anticipation for its sequel has only grown since the first GTA 6 trailer was released over a year ago. The long delay between GTA 5 and GTA 6 has also inspired the emergence of a parody game, recently listed, which may or may not be a real title.
